The Association will be painting the Common Area Walls beginning the week of June 18, 2007.

At this time the Association is asking tha you either trim or tie back any foliage that is encroaching over the wall, and make sure your watering system is moved away from the common walls.  Any plant life that is hanging over the wall will be trimmed by the community landscapers in order for the necessary painting to be completed.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Vision Community Management at (480) 759-4945.

July 4th, show your patriotic spirit at our 3rd Annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast. Please join us at The Boulders at Adventure Park for this fun event.  The fun starts at 7am with the local boy scout troop opening with a flag ceremony, yummy breakfast or pancake, sausage, juice and fruit. Also, decorate your bike, wagon or yourself for an informal patriotic parade.

We are looking for a volunteer to sing the National Anthem during the Pancake Breakfast.  Please contact Trisha by emailing social@santanranch.org if you are interested.

See you there!

This is an archive article from the Town of Gilbert, originally sent in June, 2005.

Temperatures are on the rise and that means Bermuda grass is in its glory.  Bermuda grass is most likely the toughest grass used for turf in areas of the southwest deserts.  It tolerates our alkaline soils and water and has excellent resistance to heat and drought or injury from foot traffic.  Common Bermuda produces flower stalks, pollen (which can offend allergy sufferers) and seeds while the hybrids are sterile and produce no pollen/seeds.  Hybrid Bermudas such as Tifgreen, BobSod, Tifway and Midiron (E-Z Turf ™) are fine leaved Bermuda grass varieties that are popular for large turf areas as well as small yards.  The hybrid Bermudas are also less likely to invade flower beds and tree wells and are typically greener and denser.

We’re not the only ones feeling the heat. Plants may look a little stressed as they transition to higher temperatures and lower humidity levels. Water demand by plants can be at its highest this month. These recommendations are for plants that are established in the landscape (in the ground about 2 years).

Watering guidelines for this time of year are listed below.

Lawn watering:
Summer grass (Bermuda) - once every 3 days
Overseeded cool season grass (rye) - grass dies out

If trees and shrubs are on the same valve:
Desert Adapted - once every 14 days
High Water Use - once every 7 days

Tree watering:
Desert Adapted - once every 16 days
High Water Use - once every 8 days

Shrub watering:
Desert Adapted - once every 12 days
High Water Use - once every 5 days

Groundcover and vine watering:
Desert Adapted - once every 12 days
High Water Use - once every 4 days

Cacti and succulent watering - once every 21 days

Annuals watering - once every 2-3 days

**Reduce your landscape watering 30 to 50 percent by adjusting your irrigation each season.** “Landscape Watering by the Numbers: A Guide for the Arizona Desert” will help you determine how much water to apply and how long to run your system. Visit the interactive web site at http://www.wateruseitwisely.com/ or request a free copy of the booklet at www.ci.gilbert.az.us/water

Bonus tip: Check your sprinklers after each mowing to be sure they are not broken or misdirected. A broken sprinkler head can lose up to 8 gallons of water a minute.

Note: These recommendations are a general guideline only and may need to be modified for your specific site conditions.

The attached article will give you tips on maintaining attractive, healthy turf areas.
