This is an archive article from the Town of Gilbert, originally sent in May, 2005.

Ask most people what they notice first in a landscape and they’ll tell you it’s color.  Bright, vivid, colorful plants with interesting forms and textures liven up our outdoor living spaces and help soften granite planting areas.  In addition some add shade or fragrance and attract colorful visitors in the form of butterflies and hummingbirds.  All this can be accomplished with the use of desert adapted plants which thrive here in our salty soils and challenging climate.

The attached article will help answer common questions that are asked about using plants that can save water.  Plus they require less maintenance which all adds up to savings in our budgets.
